ok....the clutches on both sled dont match......on my sled the clutch looks bigger than the wifes....on my sled I have a black spring on the clutch and a purple spring with white line one it....on the wifes its yellow and white.....I dont know the difference but I do know that the wifes springs are what are supposed to be on the sled according to the repair manual. so I guess my sled the clutch has been changed before......so now I have V-force reeds and a different clutch......what the differences for the clutches?? anybody??

Are they both the same sled? Cat will have either a 6 or 9 post primary clutch also each sled will have differant color springs, helix and weights depending on what sled it is. I can tell ya what it should have from the factory just need to know what ya got. Also you will need a clutch puller to pull the primary off the sled.

Primary clutch- 48.5 gram weights and a yellow/white spring

Secondary clutch- 49 helix and yellow spring

That is stock if there are differant color springs or weights then someone was in there. I would have to know whats in there to tell ya what someone tried to do.

I had Russ change the spring on my clutch because it was hooking up at too high of an RPM. It's ok to hook up at a high rpm if you got 2 hands OR on a straight track. I was just finding it difficult to get on the brake fast enough with the one hand in the twisty trails.

I thought Yamaha was such a heavy sled they installed foot brakes for this reason.

Actually, I was talking about my cat 600zl. The 4 stroke has plenty of tourque. That clutch kicks in around 3k and pulls all the way....with a complete power band all the way----If you have never driven a high performance 4 stroke, you really need to try one. It's a different riding experience. What's really nice (for me) is how it slows down when you let off the gas. That works great for me since I don't use the brake as much as you guys with 2 hands.
