Hey guys.
Last time I posted some simple maintance items, alot of you checked yours and found you needed to do it.....LOL
Here is some more
I went through the brand new sled last night, getting ready for the ride in Pittsburg, and this is what I did.
1. Changed plugs - 500 miles on new motor, good idea to do it.
2. wrenched and checked all skid bolts and nuts- a loose bolt on a shock can ruin a day
3. checked gearcase oil and decided to change it- good idea being a new sled.
4. changed my carbides to better ones
5. Greased front spindles and all fittings in the skid- very simple, but alot of folks forget to do it. I was surpised to see how much grease it took, and how much water came out of the parts.
6. Greased the fitting under the secondary clutch.... Cannot forget this one, its easy to forget because its under the clutch and many people do not remove it.
7. checked track tension- it was good
8. checked drive belt, looks like new still and clutches are clean.
9. topped off oil and antifreeze and checked for leaks... no problems.
10. checked brake fluid in reservoir-only because sled is new.
I am good to go, are you?

LOL.....I love it.
Bandit, you are the old guy I know that claims that he does nothing to a sled. yeah right????
everyone, no matter what the brand needs to do general maintenance. A skid is a skid, shocks are shocks... bolts loosen up and all sleds need grease and oil. Plugs and belts are normal wear items.

Now the blinker fluid, if you dont change that, you will be in serious trouble.....LOL

I service it once in the fall and change the oil every 2 years. You got screws and bolts loose not me. The 4 stroke plugs don't need to be changed, belt, same one with 7k miles on it. Although I need on a new one now. ALL Original Bogie wheels and bearings too. I keep the track tight so I do replace the slides once a year. I think that's why your sled gets messed up, You have no clue what you are doing.
Ditchpickle
i think dj should open up a garage so he can work on all of our sleds. Thanks man!

My sleds dont get messed up. My F6 had over 4200 miles on it when I traded it in good condtion. My only issues were warranty recall issues that the dealer couldnt get right. I have never paid a mechanic to fix my sled, never except when Diane crashed and the sled was almost totaled.
All I was doing is posting some general maintenance items that maybe some "Newbies" may want to look at. So bite me.!!

Do you have plastic skis or metal? If they were too low, or missing you may have ruined your skis.

Thats good, if you wear down the keel, the sled will "push" alot in the corners.

This newbie will be doing all this stuff in the Spring so I'll print out the list. Looking at the rain, it may be Spring tomorrow sad.gif
Once I start doing this, and I find more and more broken stuff...I'm blaming it on DJ for bringing it up.

Good luck! I am not a mechanic by any means, but not afraid to dig in, and have learned alot from friends and neighbors and some bad expiriences.
