Over the summer, who starts their sled once in awhile and is it a good idea or bad idea?????????
I normally "summerize" the sled, put in new plugs, change gear lube, fog the engine, and put fuel stabilizer in the gas and just not touch it until winter, but I hear alot of guys periodically run their sleds all summer long.
Once wintertime approaches, I take them out, clean em, grease all the fittings, do a once over check of the bolts, track, suspension ect....then just go.
Any opinions out there????

i drain the bowls after the last ride so no fuel remains in the carbs, then in the fall fill the tank w fresh fuel and ride

if you have FI then dont drain the bowls LOL

This year is a 1st for me. I always kept the sleds in the garage but this year I left them in my enclosed trailer. I have heard that heat in the trailer can cause moisture issues, but my trailer is vented well, and I purposely parked it in a shady area. I dont think I am going to start mine, I really dont see why its necessary if I fogged the motor and stabilized the fuel.

I stat mine at least once a month all summer didn't do it last summer for the first time in years had plenty of yellow slime in the carbs last winter when I cleaned em. I stabilzed them with the expensive stabil this last ride and still start em all it takes is about five min every few weeks pluss I useually close the cover rite up I don't think the bugs like the smell of two stoke smoke like all those yamaha riders(bandit) starting em works for me pretty good i guess

Plus its fun to sit on them, close your eyes and rev the throttle...LOL
I may start them here and there just to blow the mice out of the exhaust pipe. I never worried about mice in the garage, but in the trailer its easy for them to find a hole.

neve had a problem with mice or bugs some times i will start them and close the clamshell for a min or 2 and watch the smoke roll out the two vents then open it and shut em off and close up the top quick to try to let the smoke kill any bugs sleds don't seem to mind the smell of twostroke smoke

Mice are a problem in dem dam hills of Wales...LOL
I have had my neighbors sled ruined completely, his wife sled seat and wires chewed, my old pop-up camper was destroyed, and I find a mouse nest in my Quad airbox every summer. I've tried boraxo soap, dryer sheets, moth balls, mouse traps and mouse poison and I have a cat, but still no luck.

I've run mine 3 time so far this summer. I bring them up to operating temp and shut them down.
