I rebuilt my secondary clutch on my '95' vmax 600 last winter, with a new spring. Is there anyone out there that knows what the spring settings are supposed to be. I ran it last winter, but the way I thought it was supposed to go back together gave me extreme low end for the first 10 mph the the secondary opened up. The sled still tops out at the same old speed. I just don't know the setting so the secondary won't open till about 30mph. Can anyone help? Yes I know it's a Yamaha, but it's wicked reliable. Never let me down. Also, anyone know who would change a track on the same sled, not too expensive? I got a 'slightly used' track for it.

Did you just change the spring in the secondary only? was it the stock spring that came out of the sled or a aftermarket. Most secondary clutches have a few different holes for the spring to go into by twisting the spring into a hole will add or subtrack RPM. Also stiffer spring will change the Backshift of the sled and how fast the clutch will open and close. In most cases you would have to change the helix or Ramp I think it's called in yamaha when you change the spring. What are looking for the sled to do or do just want the stock setup? As far as changing the track thats pretty basic and should not coast that much. I can do a track in a arctic cat in less then a hr.

I got a new stock spring for secondary only, got new sliding sheave with new ramps. The backside with numbers I set at '2' and the other side set at 'B'. Before I did anything, it ran fine, but now it winds up and screams till about 10 or 15 mph, then kicks down. Before, it would kick down at 30 and I would use a lot less fuel. I want to set it at the most fuel efficient setting, while not having it scream in the low end. If the stock setting is the best of both worlds-power and fuel efficiency, that's what I would do. I just don't know the setting.

Bandit's Clutches on his RX1 were in good shape I pulled both clutches off the sled took them apart cleaned them and put everything back together with a new belt. The blue streak is ready to fly.

it tells you that Cat clutches suck so bad that you have to take them off all of the time. Even grasshead has to admit that Cat clutches are a pain in the but. That is why he is so proficient with them.

They are the easiest clutches to work on. I would take a tra primary over a cat clutch any day but there's no replacement for the cat reverse cam secondary's. Gerry believe this or not but all the prostock ski doo boys who are deep into drag racing run a bearcat secondary clutch.
